Mares/Colts

The foundation mare used to get the current bloodlines of our broodmare band was by Tee Cross out of an own daughter of Doc's J Jay.  We began breeding her to Red Mark Blanton in 1991.  We liked his conformation, disposition and versatility.  We feel like the industry has gotten away from good-boned, sturcturally-correct feet and legs and Red Mark had it all.  We raised many good saddle horses we still use today and kept our fillies for brood mares.  For three years we crossed our Red Mark Blanton mares on Solid Sugar Bar and were pleased with the results.  Solid Sugar Bar is one of the few "own sons" of Colonel Freckles still alive today.  He is out of a tremendous Sugar Bar daughter: Bonanza Sugarbar.  The colts are sound, strong, good minded individuals.  Below is a picture of two fillies, whom are an excellent example of this extraordinary cross.  Onion Update (left) is a half sister to Redhot Onion, one of the most successful geldings in the show pen from San Jon Ranch, and Chili Brava (right) by Solid Sugar Bars out of Red Chili.  We have taken these daughters and bred them to sons of Grey Starlight and are anxious to see the results this spring.
